About the Developer

Muirden Energy LLP are looking at the opportunity to develop a BESS on unproductive agricultural land north of Smiddyhill.

Since 2009, Muirden Energy have developed onshore wind, solar and biomass boiler projects across Scotland. Based at Muirden Farm in Turriff, Muirden Energy has worked extensively with local landowners to create viable renewable energy projects to support Scotland’s just transition to net zero.

Pre-Application Consultation

This website presented information about the proposal to install a 49.9MWh BESS Compound North of Smiddyhill, Strichen (Strichen North). There is information about why the site was selected for a potential development, an indicative site layout and a description of the environmental and technical studies that are being undertaken.

Aberdeenshire Council requires pre-application consultations (PAC) to be carried out in line with the SP=EED (Successful Planning= Effective Engagement and Delivery) guidelines. Members of the project team have undertaken SP=EED training with Planning Aid Scotland to inform this PAC process. All activities are designed to consult the public on the proposals, meeting the requirements of the local planning authority to achieve level 2 public engagement.

All public consultation will be carried out in line with the Royal Town Planning Institute’s professional ethics and Code of Conduct.
