The Strichen North Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) would contribute to the growth of Scotland’s renewable energy technologies with a propsed 49.9MWh capacity to absorb excess renewable generation and contribute back to the grid where needed.

» The proposal would contribute to grid balancing services for a period of at least 40 years;
» The development would have an export capacity of 25MW with a 2 hour operating period;
» The development would comprise of 20no. battery storage units; 10no. Power Conversion System units (PCS); access tracks; office, substation
and fencing.
» Access to the site will be taken from the C10b, the unnamed road to the south.
» The maximum height of the battery units will be 2.6m and the fence is 3m.
There are currently several candidate battery and power models being considered for the proposal.
